Hey Guyz & Galz, Ben and I are officially burnt out, I dont have the energy time or motivation to continue, Its taking me ages to get trophies & medals made up and engraved, have lost energy and motivation to contact sponsors re submitting prizes, or motivation for organizing any of the past stuff we used to. Ben can speak for himself.

If there is anyone out there with time energy motivation and enthusiasm, Ben and I would be willing to handing over the administration of the GTC.

I geuss we need to have an open discussion of what this would mean, and any potential unforseen consequences?

The gpstc belongs to all the windsurfers that have made it what it is, be nice to see it maintain its spirit of fun and not for profit, what do people think??

Do we hand it over to one of the state windsurfing associations?

Having had a full on year with WWA stuff I truly believe that the only way to do this is to share the burden and for people to be honest when they need a break.
Nebbian and Hardie have done a fantastic job with the GPSTC and I thank them wholeheartedly for their tremendous efforts in building a fantastic competition.
Hardie, I am glad you brought this up and credit to you for letting us know. I have discussed this scenario just recently.
It would involve a bit of work but a discussion with you guys to let us know the tasks required and time of year and then asking for a couple of people to take on each task would build in some depth to the admin so that no one person feels under the pump.
Nebbians web magic will be hard to replace but I am sure we can keep things ticking over.
As to a state association taking it on, in all honesty they are already fully loaded.

I know most people are under time pressure (job, family, sailing etc) but I can assure you that every little bit of help is hugely appreciated no matter how small.

So come on challengers who is in?

tbh the web stuff pretty much runs itself, I'm happy to keep doing any web changes that need doing.

The main roles that need doing are things like contacting sponsors, organising prizes, helping people that have three logins, that sort of thing.

I'm always amazed at how big our little site has gotten... any help will be gratefully received.

Okay I'll put my hand up but remember I'm stuck in little 'ol Central Queensland so I'll probably only be good for remote (internet etc) tasks as opposed to face to face ones .

Don't have any web programming skills although I'm could assist in the sponsorship side of things - don't really know how this is undertaken at present but I'm willing to learn.

Now when do I get my admin login to change all my PB's. [insert evil laugh here]

The main reason KA72 exists is because GPSTC exists, so I'm happy to help out. Let me know what I can do.

Cheers,

Dylan.

Just an Idea,

If you made a virual online Trophy Room on the GPS Team Challenge web site. You would not have to get trophies, medals made & engraved. You don't need to hand out any trophies or pay for them.

That is an excellent idea, because it's not like any of the teams have a clubhouse to show off the trophies or anything, so who gets to keep it?

You obviously haven't been to the Sandy Point Museum.

Don't worry about the trophies and medals, it's all about bragging rights.

Like back in 2011 when the Pinnaroos edged out the Manbra Boys 2 days before the end of the year with a smoking sesh on Mandurah turf

Yes I like the idea of a virtual trophy room.
Reduces cost and work load considerably, removes any "commercial" complications.
puts the International and Aussie teams on the same footing.
Means no big changes to the way the GTC works.

Just a one off job to make the virtual room, (sorry nebs)

Hardie
Your baby has grown up - & fast, & it's probably time to let go.
But it will always be yours.

Creating & building a project is soooo absorbing and time consuming - it's like owning a business or kids - it's there 24/7.

I've been to Qld, Tassie & Vic where I've met so many friendly fellow GPSTC players.
My wife still can't believe how we all link up & just do things (like chat for hours ).

There is a lot of talent (& expertise) in the GPSTC, it will continue to grow......

.....and is probably the best thing to happen to windsurfing for a long, long time

Played strong, done good

I agree that GPSTC is the very best thing that has happened to Australian windsurfing EVER! It is a huge credit to the inspirational foresight of Joseph and Ben.

Joseph, whatever happens I would like to see you remain the figurehead, guiding father and senior spokesman of the GPSTC. I can understand very well the pressures of trying to make time for the other stuff. I am sure that within this great community you founded, we can find devoted and capable people to take the load from your shoulders.

I note that the Australian annual perpetual team trophy, so expertly and generously built by Craig Hollins (Kato), will last for very many years to come. I sincerely hope it finds a home in every one of the participating states at some time in the future.

Cool snags 1-2 in individual divisions, rig it so Tassie, Pit Crew, Swanies finish in that order down the bottom of the table

I mentioned this before about trophies you could just design a certificate of achivement email it to the winners and they can print it out etc minimal cost to everyone!

I agree with the virtual trophy room, that would be great!! Also be good if Hardie can stay on in his roll, but just take a step back and let others do the work. The GPS TC is a fantastic 'thing' that Hardie and Nebs have created and it would be good to streamline it so it continues with minimal on-going effort.

Had a thought today, the GTC wouldn't exist at all without this site, Here is were it was first postulated, then organised.

I have heard it said, that Laurie wished he'd thought of the GTC first.
If a commercial answer is the only way out, some sort of direct link with seabreeze, would be my preferred option.

Ok having heard what people have said, I will make a list of duties/tasks to be performed and individuals can nominate to undertake and complete a task on the list.

I will stay on as figurehead then, and represent the GTC.

Stay tuned for a new thread/post where I will list all the things that need to be done.

Thankyou to all for the offers of help and pm's!!!!!!!!!!!!
