Can I just remind people the GTC is about fun. The GTC will never ever be totally fair, its impossible. I can never make 100% people happy. There are some excellent arguments coming from the left, and if I go that way, people on the right of the philosophical spectrum, feel pissed off and disadvantaged, There are also excellent arguments from the right, which really piss off people from the left spectrum.

The serious records, are held by GPSSS, which have strict rules, please use GPSSS for serious records.

GTC rankings are for fun, and bragging rights, no sheep stations involved.

If you want to compete in the GTC there are costs involved, The main cost is thats its not a fair competition, and at times it feels unjust! If you want total fairness justice and equity, then the GTC is not going to deliver, you may leave the GTC, the cost being you miss out on fun.

Everything in life has a cost and a consequence.

If I move the GTC to the left, I piss people off, If I move it to the right I piss people off. Therefore I'm not moving it, it stays the same. It either lives and grows, by peoples participation, or it dies because people leave.

Laslty, I LOVES YAS ALL, and alwayz try my best to keep people happy, but i now recognoise and accept its an impossible task.

Please enjoy the GTC for what it iz, focus on the joyful parts! One secret of psychological health is what you focus on expands.

I wanted to leave the GTC last year, but received over-whelming demands to stay, you wanted my benevolent dictatorship (BD). My BD decree is the GTC stays the same, and it lives or dies, as it iz.

I have in the past, am currently and will in the future have lots of fun with GPSTC.
BTW - I haven't got a sheep station that I can put up. Only a horse property that costs more than my windsurfing
Big thanks to Hards for making it happen

GTC is such a positive influence on windsurfing, its amazing to see how much motivation it provides for our locals. Its been a long time since I have seen so many people on the water having fun.

There's actually a famous bit of Graffitti, from the classic book "Fuhrerland" by Harris, a world in which Germany won the war and Adolf Hitler is still alive in the 1960's, and its his birthday weekend celebrations : Graffitti "Anyone Caught Not Having Fun Will Be Shot!!!!"

and thanx to everyone for the words of support

Clearly the GTC encourages the development of relationships between windsurfers who may otherwise never meet or know each other too well. The GTC is a great concept that is working well now.

More rules designed to make it fairer would make it more bureaucratic and less fun.

Well put Hardie,

wether you compete globally or locally, in a team or against yourself it does not matter, left or right, up or down, in or out, or in between. GPSTC is for the LOVE and camaraderie that windsurfing affords to bring people together where ever you sail, to greet, meet, compete and improve oneself sharing the stoke.

The one sheep station to play for is a windsurfing paradise far far away which involves lots of work to make it there to enjoy much the same feeling of a different kind.

Cheers

Spotty

Hey Hardie. I have done the GPSTC for almost a year now (on Friday 14th) and met a lot of windsurfers that I otherwise would not have & sailed over 7,000km in the year. I am not the fastest sailor out there (in fact way closer to the slowest) but gee I've had some FUN along the way
Thanks for your input as well as Nebs & Dylan (& anyone else) who have made it all possible, as well as all the other GPS sailors
Cheers

Hardie, I think the majority back you and Nebs to the hilt.
A lot of thought went into the current format by some very smart and experienced people.
That initial effort has proved itself by the worldwide involvement in the challenge, where hundreds of sailors have become addicted to the various levels of competition and challenge on offer.

Hardie

Without GTC I would never of hit over 40 knots, and had so much fun along the way. Those that love fun will stay. That's why we windsurf to forget the "opportunities for improvement" in life and remember the simple joy of our sport. Burning off your mates

Cheers Russ

Is there talk of changing?

I like the GPSTC how it is. It has been the best advance in windsurfing since the universal joint and has turned a diverse bunch of windsurfers into a community.

+1 all the way.
The like minded people I have met who all enjoy the sport so much have brought as much pleasure to my days on the water as the sailing has. Almost all of them are involved in GTC and just enjoy the ability to push themselves to greater heights with their windsurfing.
Keep it up GTC community I for one feel the encouragement and support I and all other sailors have and continue to receive will be only beneficial to the sport on the whole.
Thanks Hardie and Nebs for all your efforts you don't need to respond to the people that are unhappy with the format, they are obviously looking for something other than what the GTC offers.
