20-25 knots, with the odd 30 knot bullet coming through meant that everyone I talked to broke their PB's.

Congratulations to all who turned up, and Hardy... Ya missed it mate it was EPIC! [}:)]

Thanks for the loan of the strapper Elmo, it was the right board for the day

Can't believe I'm now 13th in the nautical mile rankings, Hardie's is made for it!

Edit: Now 14th... Damn you Decrepit!

Sorry nebs, but I can't let you have all the glory, don't you think beating me in the 2sec div is good enough!

What a fantastic day I'm calling it "speed sunday"

Thanks for the loan of your $50 special Alby, that was interesting, gave me the highest speed on navi display, but realspeed's given me highest speed on my board, don't know how that works, they all look valid to me.

Isn't it interesting that all these PBs are on weed fins!
Elmo that also vindicates you and hardy.

I must admit I LMFAO when I see all the weedies out there and the PB's being quoted.

1 year ago I loaned Pedro a weedy now everyone's got a selection of them

Tickles my sadly perverted sense of humour

Yes - you are right - this time last year I had one old 1990 vintage weed fin. Now I have 5 or 6 [various vintages] and I actually spent 2 hours fine tuning one this morning in anticipation of today. Thanks for putting us all on the right track for this spot Elmo - my Tectonics would have been catastrophic!
Congratulations to all who attacked it today - have a look at the posts - so many [PB]s - as Snides said "PB city" !!
Great work SRM team - Tim, Claude, Snides and John N!
Great work MMobsters - Elmo, Decrep and Matt
And Nebbs - I've never seen a wave sail go that fast maaate!

Huge congrats to all the crew lucky enough to sail The Run today...
I'm massively jealous.

I got out for a short blast at Melville and it was gusting solid 25k+. I was teaching a mate to windsurf .... far from ideal conditions for a learner!!

Yo Pedro..some impressive stats...40k+ peak and a 35k+ nm, fxcken unbbelievable stuff, ditto Elmo + Snides.

Hardies Run...the West Coast Pit?

Fxcken A.

What the...? OK. It has finally dawned on me that you guys are sailing this run in ONSHORE winds!
Is this why there is all the talk about weed fins? Does the weed keep the chop down like in Strand Horst?
Is there something else I am missing here?

yep on shore winds..the weed banks keep the chop down how ever yesterday it was faster earlier due to a lower tide as the tide came in the chop began to roll through over the weed beds, not taking anything away from the mandurah boys run..i dont think the water was as flat as pt walter, woodys or yo yo's run further south, its just that it was on ave flattish for alot(hell of a) further.the other runs i mentioned above can get very flat but only for a couple of hundred meters.
of course this is my take on the runs the mandurahs boys and others may disagree.

have to add that sailing through the weeds is a bit daunting as generally the weed is on or just under the surface so its hard to gauge how deep the water is or what rocks lie beneath. as such as Elmo mentioned you can see dark lines through the weed where the fins have cut through.

cheers... wasnt really trying for alphas as it was survival like conditions (for me) but had a couple of runs at it early on on port and cracked 3 or 4 +25's and the 26 i was struggling to sheet in coming out of the gybe the weight def helped and i think 27+ is with in easy reach if i go hard at it..
