have been using GT-11 for a short period of time
good device for my runs and windsurfing.

i race a little and wish to use GT-11 to improve my sailing (Formula)

if there are 4 races a day, do i have to off/on the GT-11 for each race, so that there will be 4 files in the SD card ?

is there a quick way to start a 'new file' before my next race without off/on the GT-11 which is quite tedious and primitive.

thank you

Why do you want 4 files?

You can split them when you're in front of a computer, it might be easier than turning on and off while on the water.

Holding in the toggle button for a second creates a waypoint, I don't know if Realspeed looks at these however.

Depends what software you're using I guess, realspeed and gpsar, will clearly show each race, especially if you set the minimum speed of recording.

As far as I know there's no easier way of creating a new file, plus turning it off between races will conserve the battery.

Just leave it on.

Its not like your races are right on top of each other there will be a good period of time where you'll be wandering of to the pub for a quick one in between.

Just edit them out in the software afterwards, very easy to do

There is a way to do it, mate and I shared one for most of first season (last year)
Will have a look tonight when I get home. From what I can remember, the GT-11 stays on, and the write to card is stopped and restarted. You then get multi files on down load of card. If nobody has solution by then, I will post it for you.
Turning it off and on generates a problem if you do it then jump on board quickly into next race. GT-11 will record but gets lost trying to lock onto satellites.

hi mineral1, thank you for taking the trouble to check it out.

i'm using a GPSAR pro, still very new on this program, if i were to edit out the segment (racing period only), it will be tedious.

if there's a way to launch new file before each race, my friends and i can save alot of time and effort, we can spend more time studying our racing matters.

is there any other program beside GPSAR that can show various boards on a single screen for analysis ?

Meng, After first race, to get a new file before next race, scroll down until you see "memory card" on front screen/display, depress toggle, and select "Log Switch" turn log "OFF" and before next race go back to same and turn "log switch back to ON-FIX.
This should give you a new file for each race.
Try it walking before you hit the water, just to make sure it actually does what I am saying it will.
Walk around block, do this on/off at each corner and you should have four (4) files at end.

Agreed that should work, but I don't see it being much easier than turning unit off and on again.
