Is G10 the best material to make a fin out of?
Are the fastest fins made out of G10?

G10 is good up to a certain size point then lacks the mechanical strength for the foil thickness.
Carbon can be laid specifically to get specific flex and twist characteristics.
G10 you can hit a rock and panel beat the fin after (generally)
Carbon doesn't like rocks.
Sir Pepe of Falcon has taken to laminating Carbon onto Large G10 weedies which have flex issues with very good results
The best fin (and material) is the one that works for you

There's no definitive answer to this question, it all depends.
A good fin design takes into account the mechanical properties of the material the fin's made from.
There've been some very fast fins made from G10 that do this.
The biggest problem as I see it is the flex properties of G10. If you want a thin long fin, G10 may have too much flex, especially if it's a weedy.
As Elmo says. carbon can stiffen G10 up.
How much flex and twist a fin should have is a more relevant question.
Then you can choose the material you need to achieve it.
