I finially worked out how to get total distance with RealSpeed, doh, did 65Km on my Thur run.

Now, how do I set up a 1 hour division ?
Set sec's to 3600, but do I leave average runs to one, or more ? And what other box's do I tick, accumulation method & one result per run ?

Sorry if this is basic or explained somewhere else

Cheers & thanks

Hi, I think so, just go to Add Division, name it & change metres to 1852, 1 international nautical mile = 1852 metres.
Apparently there is a Pommy nautical mile also.

If that's wrong, let us know.

when you add a division give it a name ie 1hr- then tick 'time' then input 3600seconds tick accumulation method then tick average of 1 run then ok.
job done!

Firie
Once you have set up the divisions then opened the track file you have to go - edit - delete invalid - then the recalculation should include the hour.
Cheers

Thanks snides & 25, that did the trick

25, I did what you said, and deleted invalid. Now my max 2sec has gone up to 34.9 knots from 28.4 If this is true, I'm just so happy, but what gives ?
With my 10sec x 5, I get speed = 27.5 & max speed = 34.9, I'm sure I'm doing it right.

If 34.9 is my max, bugger I was a one man team that day, cos Troppo would have been faster again

Hey Bob, I just did delete invalid and my max 2 sec went from 28 to 38 knots.. I had a look at my tracks and it happened straight after a tack. I was doing 38 within 4 seconds... I wish.

Hi Fitzy, just checked mine again, and my 2sec max was in the middle of a long downwinder, says I did it for 6sec, also my 100M is in the same spot.
Sorry, I hope mine is right and yours is wrong, can't have you doing 4 more

I have modified the Realspeed AlphaRacing file so it provides all std default info as well

If anyone wants to save themselves 5 mins drop me a line and I'll email the file.

has anyone gotten to the bottom of the delete invalid thing.

if deleting invalid means my peaks will jump by 5 knots then where's the eraser.

any idea what gives?

you shouldnt have to del the invalid tracks unless realspeed has not picked up the spike. realspeed all ready ignors the spikes and is pretty good at this so dont touch it unless you have to.

My track on the weekend had a couple of sudden jumps to a couple of k's away.

Realspeed was the only program that had trouble with this obviously false data, and I couldn't even delete invalid. Sure I could delete one or two data points, but try deleting 400 or so and it barfs.

It gives out bad vibes with having to register too...

If RealSpeed got incorrect results, send the datafile to Mal (or sailquik) so that it can be fixed -> Mal is pretty good like that.

As for the registration thing - I have been told it is simply a way to determine how many people are using it. Since the number of people that would use RealSpeed is quite small, its not such a bad idea.

Nebs, I've always found Mal to be very helpful. I imagine that he wants you to register so that he can help stop someone floggin his programming. Sorry I cant help you with your problem as I have never experienced this.

If are new to this and you have a problem looking with the data.

We can organize to send me the Original unchanged data file and the one you have been working on.

With this I can then have a look at and give you call to run through what you've got going on so you can see how to do it.

guys if you use g7towin to upload to the pc things will have less errors.

no need to delete invalids or spikes. realspeed does it all for you.

Hey Guys, I haven't seen this thread before tonight. Raises some interesting points worth consideration.

1. I should provide all the divisions in the default settings. That way if you want to delete them its easier than setting them up.
2. Having tracks that span across two sailing areas can cause trouble but the results should still be OK. I have seen some tracks where there was a 100 kmh drive in the middle which can screw things up. The latest version of RealSpeed provides many ways to delete track points. The best is to highlight all the points at once in the trackpoint grid, right click and select Delete TrackPoints... This will delete whole sections of thousands of points and then recalc in about a second or two. Other ways include using backspace and delete on any graph.
3. Sometimes I miss emails when they get diverted by the spam software. My apologies for making guys wait. Dont hesitate to send me a barrage of emails if you haven't heard from me within 24 hours. I wont be offended, I feel worse when I have left someone waiting for a week or more...
4. Definitely send me a file if you are having trouble with it. It is almost always a setting that needs tweaking to solve it. But I need the file to test my software also.
5. This kind of feedback is great. Keep it up!

G'day Mal, yes a lot of nice things are happening on this forum, laurie be praised!!!!

The very first post of this thread highlighted one realspeed deficiency, (unless there's an easy way I'm missing)
total distance traveled.
The only way I can see to get it on the computer is to do a print preview. Then it's in Nautical miles. Our gps challenge site records it in Kilometers.
(If you haven't seen it yet,--- gpsteamchallenge.com.au/index.php )

Can it be set up as a division? with the choice of units?
At the moment I'm using gpsar to get total distance.

Still no luck getting it running in Linux, I tried with Xandros and crossover office, but nothing happened, possibly adding those same missing dlls, would help, but crossover office gives no feedback.

If you also scroll down to the end of your track points data table it's there under distance in meters

Thanks guys, hopefully I'll get to try that tomorrow.

Just tried File > Properties, and RealSpeed crashed every time.
But as Elmo says total distance is at the bottom of the track data in meters
