I love my Mini, but I have had a few instances (maybe 4) where it's turned itself off. I've previously been unsure as to whether I might have held the button on too long, But foiling today that doesn't seem to be the case. It turned itself off 2minutes after turning it on (I sailed for 2hrs). Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone have an explanation? My battery was fully charged

Mine has done the same thing , maybe 10 or more times over the last 18 months. It seems to happen soon after being turned on , as the file size is usually small . All the firmware updates have been done but it still happened randomly with each version.
Despite the problem I am happy with the concept of the Mini Motion. (Simple , accurate ,cost , size, waterproof, etc).
Luckily my 12 year old GT 31 is still going strong and is used as well in competitons and when chasing PBs.

I have this problem with my second mini motion number 333. It happened from new. Sometimes it can run all day, other times it goes off after a couple of minutes. I have tried many different firmware versions under advice from Julien. But nothing has made any difference. I thought perhaps there was a loose connection inside, but it can fail even turning it on and leaving it perfectly stationary.

Of course Julien gives the worlds best warranty and has replaced it with a new one. I think he said he had heard of another one or two cases, but not many.

What would be nice is an option in the firmware so that you could get the green led to flash every 5 seconds so you would be reminded that it is still operational. Of course this would shorten the battery life, but it would make testing this fault easier.

You can check to see if it's on by quickly pressing button once. It then shows battery status with red/green blinks. . If you hold it in you risk going into wifi mode.

I had the same problem with mine. It started doing it occasionally and then every 2nd or 3rd time before failing completely. Was advised to update firmware but was not a fix. (can't understand why an older firware version would cause this fault when none previously existed?) Cost me a PB. Have since purchased another and not had any issues.

Yes I know Dave, but I didn't check. I'll have to be more vigilant. I'm wondering if there could be some sort of workaround in a firmware update. For instance, what would be the cost to battery life to have it flash green once every 15s? (I'd be too impatient to wait longer). I reckon I'd be more likely to keep an eye on it that way

Haven't had this issue in mine but maybe there's a batch issue if a few of the lake Mac crew experiencing the same problem? If not done already I'd email Julien and let him know, plus whose group order you got it from/purchase date so he can trace it back.

- Email me, that falls under warranty of course.

- I believe there's a batch or two where one of the glues is acting up after some time. Just email me, I'll replace it.

- Yes I'll add the option of a regular LED flash to the next firmware.

Mine has doing the same thing Stretch & may be from the same batch as yours, 0083 is it's build number.

Started as an intermittent occurrence became quite regular & then got a few sessions where it worked normally after a firmware update but has now reverted to shutting down nearly every time.

Try going back to the previous firmware. :-)

Will email you Julien. I must say we are very lucky to have you responding to these queries. No way we'd get this sort of response from the other suppliers

No issues with my Mini's or LCD in regards to turning off, but we did test some beta/test FW for Julien and saw that issue in the LCD. Those beta versions were scrapped of course and when we reloaded the older FW the issue disappeared again. That is why I suggest trying the previous version of your fw. PM me if you need a copy of earlier FW and have deleted it from your computer.

I expect to replace ~60, just email me. In June, major team leaders will have "care packages" with replacement-everything on hand.

Hello. Statistically, this issue should have impacted a lot more users (60ish as mentionned above) than did so far. So please make sure to pass the word around that users with such an issue are entitled to a replacement device.
