Hey everyone,

Getting a GPS for my late Bday present and was just wondering if it was possible to share it with my dad. I would love for him to record times aswell but he can't justify spending the money on getting a GPS for himself.

If i was to give him the GPS for some runs at the end, is it possible to distinguish the difference between his and my results? If we had two SD cards would that make it work maybe also?

Cheers
Bubs

P.S: Its a Navi GT-11 by the way.

There might be a better way bubs, but just turn it off and then on again, it'll start a new file. Just remember who sailed when

Cheers,
Bob.

Of and on works best, switch of for a couple of mins then back on again.

Try to remember who did what sessions.

Bubs, on and off works, but some times the system has a drama working out location and time.
You can use the card off on sequence, and this will generate a new file.
PC and I shared one unit all last year. Only drawback is your distance is halved, the average 1 hour speed usually gets recorded as 0 due to one not running a GPS when you out on the water.
And as Hardie indicated, you can claim the fastest session
The other way you can do it is to "split" the session in RSpeed, but you will need to record what time you change over the GPS.
What we did in the end, was the person who is able to spend most time dry (gybes and such) kept the NAVi on, and the other tried for 2 sec, 5 x 10 sec and Alpha when he has it
Hope this helps.

just before you swap you could walk in a circle that way you will know when to split your tracks

is it possible to mark a different waypoint as your own so you'd know who's session

Tell your old man to run down the beach zig zagging and waving his arms up and down, then you'll know it's him

Don't tell him it was my idea

I once shared my gps with Bugs, turned the unit off and on then got him to walk in a big B at the start of his session. It was very clear which file was his.

If you're Dad's session is in the middle of your's you can use realspeed to recombine your files, then you get you're total distance, and all the 10sec results are used to calculate the 5X10sec average
