I have just been down the rabbit hole of what we call the Seabreeze forums history (and managed to fine my way back out) and found this gem:

How many teams were there at the start?

I certainly cant remember, but I guess it just 'started' when the first team signed up. Anyone know who it was?

Edit,
From that thread it looks like the SA Artheads were the first to post sessions, followed by the Mandurah Mob and Team SEQ.

It looks like some team names have changed over the years......

Second Edit,

Since Nebs was the SEQ captain, I would guess that was the first team registered.

This is earliest Home page I could find saved in the wayback machine:
It says June 8 2017.

In the next Wayback entry I found this.

It is an especially nice memory for me as John is no longer with us, but this reminds me he was with us, doing what he loved, from pretty much the beginning.

We miss him.

A pic from that day, Shelby's white ute was killed that day with water almost to the windscreen, Ed's Saab and John's Ford. My 4x4 had about 10k on the clock and wasn't going to get wet. John's car lasted for a long time despite its dunking

FNQ Mob were there, just a two man team then with my good mate Troppo and I trying in open ocean. My first file is the 10th of May 2007 although GPSTC says the 27th 2007 is our first session ? Even though I've jumped ship, I'm so happy FNQM now has 101 members and is still going strong

That's never gonna help the Falcon get traction. It'll just turn the tyres to slicks.
( Howdy Bob...trust you to see the fine detail!)

Team Seq are now the Sunshine coast Vikings. I think our first session together was 7th May 2007 at Victoria point. Thats when a kite collided with a sailor, Haircut has the footage.

Goodness, I realized just now, that I still have my original GT11 that I used to use, and share with the one other team member we started with, when team name was Pinna's, which changed to correct name of Pinneroos
Think we are in the 40's in numbers now, with the first mixed team with a lady as skipper.
