Forecast not looking good at this stage with 39c sat and 42c sun with light breezes forecast for both days which means hardly any of that wind will get into estuary. What do you reckon peeps, cancell it till 2011 as its meant to coincide with LOC, or people that keen would do it on a weekend in Feb?

Do it in Feb if this weekend doesn't look the goods!
One more thing; is a half-hour or so jaunt across the estuary and back a couple of times really a "marathon"?
How about making it, say, 50km and then we'll all record a solid one hour to contribute to the GPSTC? If a heap of people do an hour in the same place at the same time, it will make for pretty interesting analysis of the GPS tracks, and it will be a little more deserving of the title "marathon"

Good idea Ado.
It's a lot easier banging out some kays on the estuary than it is sailing the rough waters in the LOC, so it should be longer to make it more of a physical challenge. And it will be good to compare the GPS hour results.

Agree with Feb - 6/7, 13/14 and 20/21 all look good! Great idea to do the presentation same day!

I'd avoid having it on the 20/21 coz it the week b4 the mandurah drags that have been on the calender all season.
Maybe even a fortnight after the drags would be better?? This way the drags would act as a lead up event for more intermediate sailors and encourage more to the marathon???

I think Bertie is probably right. Not the weekend before the drags. 2 weeks after would probably be spot on BUT will there be wind that late in the season?
The 13/14th might be the best compromise.
I think everyone who was going to both would still be going if they could.
