I'm glad that's been clarified. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm just off to find a two km long, low sandbar angled at 125 degrees to the prevailing 35 knot wind, and where the water is also the ideal depth, and is free of weed. Is there anything else I should be looking for? Absence of kiters?
Funny you should mention that.
For some time I have been thinking that a man made speed trench, or canal, would be an ideal addition to the attractions here in WA.
The lake (cant remember its name) in Safety Bay, where the landsailors have their headquarters would be ideal.
The wind rips across there and its flat as.
The lake has previously been "mined" for gypsum, so its not unaccustommed to being dug up.
There is water on the Old Mandurah Road side, so all that is needed is a Bulldozer, a big arse pump to keep the water out while the bulldozing is happening, and the setup of some speed gates...oh and permission from CALM.
I'm sure there's enough entrepreneurs here to put a company together to get this up and running.
You could charge for time on the water to recoup any losses and it could be a world class venue attracting world class speed attempts.
Any takers???
