mmmmmmmm as i see it, it could be painful re-theading your adjustable outhaul everytime you rig up as you would have to take off the tail peice of your boom to get it through the sail. [}:)]

Looks like there is a zip for boom fitting...

The boom through the sail looks kinda weird. What about catching the foot in the water Hard to see how the foot is cut in these photos, but I can see how this could be a problem if the foot is not cut quite short...

I think I see a zipper..

This is very similar to the A.R.T. sail although the A.R.T. sail required a specialist boom..

Yep, A.R.T tried this years ago, A.R.T sails also had a normal rear eyelet position.

Years ago had some of those A.R.T sails & still have the rear end boom fittings.

Using the A.R.T sails with the boom connected to the inner eyelet similar to Gaastra position in the photo didn't seem to work . The sail shape was unstable, lack power/ drive, unable to sail upwind, ended up only using the normal boom rear eyelet position.

Maybe Gaastra have made the A.R.T concept stable & it actually works now?

yes there is a zip, but excuse me, I forgot to wrote that this is not
final look of vapor. This is only some prototype version for testing purpose only.
I don't think that this will be out. For that we need to wait for official
look on gaastra site for 2010.

This prototype for big sizes is currently being tested in Sylt after Santa Pola with Dagan.

10 years so it would be off patent if there was one. It's a pity the Vapor design doesn't lend itself to cutouts due to lack of crossover batten. I did notice the extra boom particularly when riding small boards, but it wasn't annoying. Surely they can take 5-10cm off without disturbing the sail to the extent of that zippered system. Then maybe it'll have the good compromise of both traditional boom length and cutout system

That is definately not the 2010 model, we have already tested the 2010 in Tarifa in July. Vapor 2010 goes into production late November -December and should be in Aus early Jan.

If you put a cutout to a sail i think the skin tension will change dramatically.
So you will have to design the sail all over. I have heard that you will loose stability with cutouts. These cutouts are often done only because of demand from the markets. Not because it would give you some kind of edge.

Gaastra now has a full dealer network in Australia again - local support through your shops should alleviate these problems along with better support and understanding of the market from Gaastra. However Vapors are on a made to order only basis. First orders to be in By Nov 10 for January 15 delivery

The word on the street is that Dan Kasseler did some re-cuts in france last 2 weeks and the final patterns are going to the factory to start production - maybe we will see the clew position inside the sail after all! Will have to wait and see what comes out!
