Could anyone tell me if the Distance score in the gps challenge rankings is in nautical miles or kilometres? All the velocities are in knots I believe.

If you click on a distance record, it'll take you to the session page where it occurred.
The session page clearly says, "Distance Travelled (kms)", and as you say all speeds are in knots
