This season Windsuring NSW has teamed up with the GRSC with the introduction of a "FOIL" division for WINDFOIL & WINGFOIL COURSE RACING & SLALOM RACING, with Fins invited to the Slalom events.

GRSC is an ideal location because they offer social club members ($2.20) access to a dedicated carpark and sailing members will have access to an exclusive area. No more 3 hour time limts!
GRSC FOIL SeriesGRSC and Windsurfing NSW are partnering for the 2023/24 season to offer regular club races off the beach at Doll's Point, Botany Bay.
The plan is to offer a series of up/down wind course races and reaching or downwind slalom races accessible for all level of riders over the season with racing mostly on Sunday afternoons between 2pm and 5pm.
Racing is the best way to hon your skills while clubs offer a great venue for meeting like-minded individuals while enjoying some friendly competition and rivalry.

The Georges River Sailing Club (GRSC) offers some great facilities including;

club house,

parking,

toilets/showers,

grassed rigging area,

hoses,

a great venue for a refreshing drink after sailing with mates to brag about the day!
For the serious sailors:
We will offer some of the best course racing venues in Sydney to challenge your upwind/downwind technique in relatively flat water to 1m swell depending on the wind/tide/conditions on the day.
For the friendly novices:
We will have an easier / less technical option for novice racers to sail, with less upwind angles and a more fun style of racing.
For those seeking speed:
On slalom days we will have a range of "Figure 8" and "Downwind M" courses on offer. These will have competitive deep water open start line for PWA style racers, with a convenient sandy beach area to wait if you prefer standing starts. Slalom races will also be available for "Fin" racers too.
Members Only:
Join GRSC for the day to have a go, or for the season at georgesriversailingclub.com.au to sign up as a racing member to participate.
If you or a family member or friend can
volunteerto help with scoring, photos, or driving a boat/jet ski please let us know!

www.mysailingclub.com.au/Downwind "M" Slalom CourseIn a summer N/E seabreeze we typically get 15-20 knot thermal winds with 25 knot gusts.
For PWA style race starts sailors can go north of Towra point, gybe and cross the line at full speed with precise timing.
For Free-Racers, an easy option is to stand on Towra point sand beach or shallows and with 60 seconds to the green race flag, approach the start line for the race!
Finishing Options:
2 Gybes, start at Towra, one gybe in the middle, one gybe back near Towra, and long run to the finish in front of GRSC, allowing scoring to be done from the land, with a volunteer sitting on the beach or in the club.
3 Gybes add an extra gybe in the middle and we finish downwind on the Towra side.
For this to work a second boat is required to mark the finish line.
4 Gybes add an extra gybe and we finish out the front of GRSC
Head back to the point for the next start.
Actual example of downwind "M" slalom course with 4 gybes, starting at Towra point and finishing at Towra beach side ~1000m downwind, although only 500m downwind can also be setup.

GRSC is located at the souther end of Botany Bay offering some of the best options in any wind direction! Well except W to be honest.
The Season is kicking of this Sunday with a Funday.$50 trial fee to race including insurance if you don't already have WNSW cover.
Bring your gear, a helmet, life jacket and get ready to have some fun!
