HI Cubits,
being a former sunny coast boy sailing golden beach, the lake and ,mooloolaba i hear you loud and clear.
i'd suggest if it's S-SE-ESE direction go to thompsons beach at victoria point.
sand/no current and lots of fun. low tide not as noce but still good.
if it's SW-W-NW-N-NE-E then the western side of wello is the place. at low tide it's mud but at high tide it's sand.
Wow, it really is the do-all location! :D
I bought surf shoes ages ago because standing on gross things is gross (FACT), and to stop firing off the side of my board when gybing (not the grippiest surface). I can handle mud, as long as is isn't the super-fine superglue stuff you find in cootharaba (it welded my mast once!).
Does anyone still ride those super wide "door" boards? They were all the rage when i was last sailing, the massive fins were awesome. :)
I don't think my sail has much life left in it (two others were relegated to windskate sails because they held water!), so i'll probably be stumping for some big money items if i catch the bug again (my mast is OLD).

Edit: But first things first... I need some wind to roll in.
