Has anybody sailed Elliott Heads or Bargara area? Would love to escape the Goldie and try somewhere new. Thinking retirement options.

both very good locations.

as good as anything in brisbane or goldy if you like flat to small waves.

i used to go every year at easter time for the SE winds.

Thanks Gesty, I'm going to take a run up there to check it out, I'm a bit sick of the boat traffic on the broadwater.

Elliott is a great spot to sail, flat water and waves in the same area.

Elliot is a top spot in a southeaster, if you are looking for great bump and jump best on high tide, low tide the rivermouth is getting very narrow( Probaly worth looking at burrum heads on the low tide for the spped runs. The photo is pretty well looking directly south at about half tide

elliot was a great flat water spot years ago (better than burrum in my opinion) but during the last 10 years or so the sand bank at the mouth has moved west and is starting to block off the main entrance . this is causing most of the river run out to flow out near coonar beach . its getting very shallow now.

Those geo scour protection sand bags on the Coonar Beach outlet have changed
the sand bar locations but its still good. Nic, have Jonno & Lisa moved up there yet?

Bagara is good in a SE theres a reef just offshore for a bit of wave action and you can launch off the beach near the boat ramp . The beach right infront of Don Panchos resort is also good in a SE but remember that there is a flat rock section just off the beach which is not kind to fins on the low tide .

Never sailed Elliot but have seen some classic flat water action taking place .

Enjoy

Hi Nick, Iv had some alltime flat water / bump and jump sessions at Elliott. But I must say the mouth of the Burrnet river is world class in a northerly and you would be hard pressed to find better anywhere.

Im in bundy now if you want to come up this way let me know and well catch up.
