It's on again, Club Windsurfing sessions are set to begin again and continue on a fortnightly basis at the Royal Qld Yacht Squadron

Whats a Club Windsurfing Session? It's a three hour session that will include some theory and practice on land before hitting the water to practice the new skills. The sessions are aimed at windsurfing improver's who are looking to learn or improve their skills in a supported and safe environment. This is not a structured course, its just windsurfers helping windsurfers to get the most out of the sport by learning new skills and meeting new friends. Sessions will be based around prevailing conditions on the day.

When is it on? Every second Sunday starting this Sunday 23/2/20 at 9.00AM

What gear is allowed? All windsurfing gear is allowed there are no restrictions. Gear is availabe to hire from reception if required (Phone RQYS during the week to arrange)

Who can attend? Everyone is welcome, people who are not members of RQYS can obtain a Sail Pass from reception to gain entry to the session.

What does it cost? Its free for members of RQYS, this is volunteer based, its run by members for members. If you are not a member you are welcome to attend, you will need a Sail Pass from reception, cost is $15.00 per day for the first 6 visit's. This is important as the Sail Pass provides personal injury insurance for participants and records windsurfing activities at the club.

Are there any prerequisties? Yes you must have basic windsurfing skills, ie you can launch and retrieve gear independantly and you can sail out and return to your lauching spot in up to 12 knots. This is not a learn to windsurf course, if you want to learn to windsurf RQYS offers regular learn to windsurf courses, see the website for details.

Whats on this week? This week we have a moderate to fresh S/Easterly predicted so we will be basing the session on water starting and beach starting, beginning at 9.00 we will run through basic techniques and tips on the beach then hit the water to practice.

Hope to see you there

Great session this morning, I think everyone learned something and had a good time, thanks to Duncan and Dave for helping out with the coaching. I think you learn a lot yourself when you help other people.

Anyone not on the FB clubwindsurfing chat group send me a pm so I can add you on, that will be the main communication channel.
