Hi all,
I just moved to Brisbane recently. Finally settled down and got some free time.
Unfortunately I didn't bring my gear with me, and of coz staying home on the weekends browsing continent7 does not help at all.

I am seriously considering buying myself some new gear, but that I reckon would be a good idea to start with understanding the local sailing culture before I decide what to buy.

More specifically;
Do people actually join sailing clubs?
What's the main type of sailing in Qld (Wave, freestyle, slalom/ racing, freeride/ B&j)?

Just a bit more about myself, I have been windsurfing for 10 plus years. Mainly racing/ slalom in early days. In recent year, tend to layback a bit, just causal riding and started gaining some interest in freestyle/wave, still couldn't do any of those new school move though.

Re sailing clubs: there'd be about 15 windsurfing members at RQYS, which is the biggest traditional yacht/dinghy club in Bris. Mostly RSX and technos, couple of raceboards. There are also up to half a dozen guys who race raceboards at Paradise Point on the Gold Coast. But definitely the majority of windsurfers are more into the slalom/freeride/social scene. Certainly Simon can give you the good oil on that side of things. Not owning a slalom board and being somewhat antisocial, I couldn't speak with authority on any of that
