I'm thinking about a change of scenery, when is the best time to go windsurfing at lake Cootharaba? What's the best wind, can anyone give me any advice?

Hi gearbreaker, I was camping and windsrurfing at Elanda Point. Very very nice spot. No people at all and a lot of space. Need to walk a fair bit before you get into deeper water. But from what I heard that's the same for Boreen.

Have fun!

Wind is good from most directions, but best in N, NE, S or SE. If only the current caretakers at boreen were as good as the wind .....

I'm not a fan of E at the lake. Always seems too inconsistant.

^^Hey Bart, weren't you crowned Mr. Cootharaba in the late eighties.

PS - Still remember that weekend we had up there around 87/88. My one and only time to the lake I think.

the caretakers who were at Boreen Point during the 90's were great, sounds like they've changed for the worse It was always a good spot as its close to shops/the pub if you can't be bothered cooking. The pub used to have roast on sunday lunch. Facilities were excellent. Can get extremely busy during sailing regattas. When the waters a bit low you may have a bit of a walk depending on the size of your fin. The bottom in the middle was always a bit muddy but wasn't too deep so water starts weren't always required if you fell off.

If you're camping and theres no wind, Noosa is only 30min drive or you can climb the King of the Mountain @ Pomona

I have never sailed from Elanda
