Agreed, then you've got no speed and you
have to sink the tail to get around. You also have to keep sail powered for any speed and stability you can find, resulting in something like this:
One thing I did teach myself recently was to take note of the mast angle. I was always flipping the rig and then being overpowered (sometimes still am). It didn't matter how much I bent knees in anticipation of too much power, I'd flip rig and go over the handlebars.
Now I
rake the rig back a little bit before flipping and it is quite often just right post flip. Must have been doing something right as I finally got some planing exit gybes two weeks back, man I was happy : ) felt like getting a tattoo or something.
