Driving north to Atherton today for another couple of weeks work, I was a bit miffed to leave the forecast behind. Who would have predicted a cracking SE in September.
But suddenly, Snuffy had a brain-wave. I'd brought all my gear, and Bowen was on the horizon.
I called Greeny, who kindly told me all he knew about where to go, and I found my way to King's Beach.
Had a great B&J sail on a 5.8 and my 92L JP quad. It makes a superb B&J board and I was nicely powered in 18-22 kts. It filled in as the afternoon wore on too, which is a nice feature of warmer climes. Clean water, nice swelly conditions with lots of chop-hopping.
I finally worked out a few wrinkles in my off-shore gybes too, which pleased me greatly.
Didn't even get eaten by a croc or a jellyfish. There was a cute little green turtle that kept popping his head up as if to say "who's that sailing on my reef ?"
No-one else around though, lonely deserted dirt road and beach. Reminded me a lot of Sprecks.
Maybe the locals were elsewhere, or maybe there aren't any.
