Cracker afternoon off Clontarf beach today. Wind really cranked after 5pm. Sailed off Pelican Park in to the middle of Bramble Bay towards Sandgate. Flat water speed jibes close to shore. Hit the sand a couple of times. Fin decided to disconnect completely at 6.15 pm in the middle of the Bay, about 1 km off shore, only sailor out, getting dark. Had read somewhere about tying your harness to the back straps to create drag which allows the board to track back in to the beach when the fin has gone. it worked! No pesky sharks in sight. Another lesson learned.
