Is anyone familiar with the eastern promontory, Shore St.
I wonder if you would get some smoothish refracted wind swell to the north west of the point in a south easter. It looks pretty low too so the wind should get through.

VP?

No VP is on shore. I'm trying to find a spot where the wind swell is a little more orderly and at at least 45 degrees to the wind.
I was out at Wello two weeks ago when the wind was southerly and the tide was low. The waves refracted around to the south-east. They stood up over the shelf and they were smooth and orderly. luverly. Its just a pity that the wind dropped.

Looking at the point to the east of Raby Bay on Google Earth suggests it might offer something like that in a south-easter but you can't really tell.

dave it'd be a high tide spot, very shallow & rocky around there. Doesnt look to get much swell in close either. Does get good consistant wind though.

Yep. I went and had a look. Your right on the money Mark. Its too shallow for swell at low tide.
