A few of us still race at RQYS on Saturdays during their season, but that has just finished until next spring.
There isn't an interclub series like in NSW, but if others are interested, perhaps we can get something going?
I still do events like the Peel Island Marathon that are mixed board/board races that welcome windsurfers to join.

Greg I wonder if we asked the Bowen/ Airlie crew if race boards could join theirwindsurfers?

Is there much of a LT class at Whitsunday Sailing Club?
I've been pondering buying one.
It would be great to see the class thrive like in other places.
I was just watching a video by Paul Van Bellen, about Parkdale Yacht Club in Melbourne.
The number of windsurfers there is incredible.
I'd post the link, but can't get it to work.🤔

Hey Whitsun,
we had six LTs on the start line for Sunday racing at the Whitsunday Sailing Club just this last Sunday. We've been training there since the end of last year, even got the kids on the Green Fleet for Sail Airlie, and now we have a mix of kids, teens and adults all joining Sunday racing. This weekend is the Mackay Festival of Sails in Seaforth so we will be there on the LTs with our own division.

We have some guys come down from Bowen to join the Sunday racing too, and even couple of young Airlie guys join us on their LTs when they're not working.

The Windsurfer Nats in Yeppoon in July is a good opportunity to pick up a brand new ex-charter board without having to worry about the extra freight to get it most of the way north. Contact Matt at Aroona (Windgenuity Sydney) and they can give you the price details etc.

Would be great to welcome another LT on to the racetrack. Good fun. If you have time, wander on down one Sunday lunchtime and say g'day. We usually hit the water at 12.30pm for 1pm race start.

Regards,
Dennis Winstanley.

Hey thanks Dennis,
It sounds like the class is getting popular here, great to see.
I'll definitely stop down for a chat next time you guys are sailing.
Might bring the slalom gear if that's alright? (will need to join the club again)
I recently brought a JP super light wind that would be choice out in the bay.
I usually drive to Bowen to sail, but tides can be a pain.😩
Have had some good sessions lately around the islands, Whitehaven is great for foiling (still in the learning phase),
and Long Island is good on the fin.
I have a few other locations I'm keen to try, just a bit wary of sailing solo.😬

I did email Matt to get a price on freight, and it was pretty reasonable.

Cheers, Luke.

Some of my raceboards below. Also have Phantom 377 for racing, but the old school boards are more durable and handle better overall.

Speed Sailboards built race and slalom boards here in Brisbane at Wynnum. Found a pic of their last raceboard, the Formula One.

F2 Lightning World Cup Race 1990 and Tiga Racing Prestige 1989. Sold the former still have the latter. If you want a race type board the best one now is a one design practicable and user-friendly which is Windsurfer LT with race ready fleets and world class competition.

The F2 Lightning Prolite from 1985 is an old classic, the later F2 Lightning models have more volume and other refinements but for a 40 year old board it should still be a lot of fun in a range of conditions.

Earlier this year I created this blog to try and document the evolution of raceboards:

So what would be the board of choice, to race, assuming $$$ and availablilty in Aust were no barrier.
Phantom
R1
BOHO
Monster.
Other?

which one to buy.

I think the R1 for me because its made to order and hand built so guessing the quality is good. Not sure of how it performs against the others though.

Rig wise I think I would go Loft sails, I have some older 2016 versions and they are still pretty good.

Hi Cam.
I enjoy the Unifiber Prodius or the newer Marcus Ruesh design Exercet RS V7 380.
Have not tried R1, Boho or Monster though I don't think a little guy like me could handle the
monster in a good blow.
Newer lofts or Demons work well.

The Unifiber Prodius were made in China/Vietnam and had some quality issues mainly with the Blue/Yellow version. I have the older Gray/Orange version
which seem to be fine. I believe because of the issues with the Blue/yellow version the board had slight design revamp and the Exercet RS V7 380 was born.
Exercet are made in Thailand so most likely Cobra. The ones here still seem to be OK so far.

The new exocet looks pretty nice, the design and performace look great just worry about the durability.

I know they are fragile, you accept if you drop it or run into something it will be damaged. However having soft spots on the deck or centreboard cases split etc through normal use is very poor.

New video on Exocet V7 380 raceboard just dropped on YT.
I like the increased tail volume on this board compared to Phantom 377.
New Loft sails also look nice.
