I am well aware of the manly spot with a nice set of slippery rock steps, but i guess i just gotta get over it and save 10$ fuel

The city pritty much, Morningside area. Closest main road is Lytton rd > Wynnum rd

the southern side of the marina area at manly has a beach launch and so does wynnum.

Mate try manly in a south easter , mid to high tide there are great ramps, going down the stairs is not to bad. Hope to be there tomorrow

The stairs are only scary on a NE 3/4 to high tide. Any other direction they are not a problem. Parking is good and the rigging area isn't very sandy. It's an awesome bump and jump location.

Sailed manly this arvo and on the low tide and a SE'er it is really easy to climb down the rocks at the front and take off from the beach at the bottom. Just pick your path and stay away from the oyster rocks!

ps gets trickier once the wind is really blowing.

Hmmm dunno about that one Ive seen some boards and rigs drop going up those rocks.
Amazingly no broken bones that ive heard off.

Stairs are ok except on a high tide and NE. Ive prob done more damage to gear at manly then anywhere else.

Sailed manly for 10 years now since getting back into the sport. Never damaged gear on the stairs.

Vando - you need more practice sailing there

Haha Manly was my home spot back when those stairs wernt even there.
and back then I could run up those rocks too, suppose its just what you get use too.

Just got hold of a new rig but can only handle it in <15 knots wind. Been pokin' around down at Manly a coupla times just south of the boat harbour.

Anyone know of other learners sailing around Manly who'd join me for a sail when light breezes cause the regulars/pro.s to stay home and post stuff on forums?

Also any good spots/tips for a learner would be awesome. Hope to see you out there - I'll be the guy stacking it every 30 seconds then scrambling back onto his board before the bull sharks close in.

Apparently Queens Esplanade at Thornside has a nice little beach area and is nice and safe. I have never been over there, I live at Lota and can often see some guys sailing over at Thornside. I would guess high tide is only any good.

South of Manly boat harbor is no good for learners unless hightide, its terrible at low tide, too shallow for along way out and very soft mud. Lota creek good on a Northerly and thats definitely not for beginners.

Learning at manly is fine. The sharks have stayed away after biting bart that one time
make yourself known to the crew that sail there, and we'll keep an eye out if you get into strife.

Yeah I keep telling myself that windsurfer boards look like big, white sharks from under the water so real sharks won't attack them. If someone can disprove that theory, I don't want to know.

I reckon that a board from underneath may also look like a school of fish, not unlike a big lure being trolled either. Just dont fall in the water is my moto.
