Hey Gestalt,
What has changed to make Caloundra (Golden Beach I assume) a spot of the past? I have to say on the majority of times I have been there it seems really fickle wind-wise but I wouldn't have thought that would have changed over time.
Thanks
I'll have a go. Building work in Caloundra in recent years has seen a few more high rises to block out (or mess up) the northerlies at Golden Beach. Vegetation growth on Bribie island is steadily blocking things off from the east round to the south. Gestalt will have an idea about whether there is less wind in general due to wider factors. It's still a good spot, however, when it's working, and you can have a great time in a strong northerly, in among the sandbanks on glass-smooth, crystal clear water - but other spots can be more reliable.
