mind you they had the kite foil national here, talk about speed. we got a lot of improvements to our sport to catch them

Don't want to rain on your parade, but best not to suggest windsurfing is faster than kiting! (Rough water it is/can be) , FYI a kite just clicked 130kmph in the speed canal!! The video footage is pretty awesome, and the board was designed by a guy who does windsurf boards also!

Woah, that's 70 knots!!! Better keep my mouth shut from now on when I'm giving it to the yachty guys for being sloppy tea baggers.

Yeah it seems in flat water their is no limit , the kite speed boards are almost like water ski's.
Doing both sports though, I know I'm heaps faster in open water conditions on my WS v KB it's bloody scary when you do get extreme speeds up on the KB knowing that your 'hooked in' at high speed there is no time to pull the safety if **** happens, same for windsurfing but the consequences fair bit different! Huge respect for these guys going so fast, madness!

Thing that gets me is that the kiter did this in 25 knots of wind with a kite that isn't particularly known for its speed.

winds were only getting to 20s

can you tell me how these kites and the foil ones are so fast, to me they are so fat they should have a lot of drag but they can do great speed in to the wind and also on really broad reach's. the winds where 20 to 30 knots up here and the kite race boards and the foils were traveling just about 160 deg of the wind and looked to be going a lot faster than the wind . it must of hurt when they crashed. there is a video of kite foil guy towing another in and they are both up on the foil and traveling pretty fast

lost the page now, saw it on FB, but the challenge has its own site you can follow, www.facebook.com/luderitzspeedchallenge?fref=nf
and yeah as Flying Cab said apparently the winds were only 25-30 range which is what makes it even so more amazing, super efficient,
still mad crazy!
