I’m 90 kg and looking for early planing in light wind. Will there be a big difference between a Severne 7.0 NCX from 2017 and a 2026 model 7.0 Gator sail? The Gator sail would be used on a 430 RDM Redline, and the NCX on a 460 SDM

I would say the Gator would get you on the plane quicker, but then be slower and less stable than the NCX especially with the 430 RDM

I have 2023 Gator 6.4 and NCX 7.0.

in light wind the Gator feels bigger. I can tune/play with set up alot and give it some belly. Yet I can hold the NCX in stronger wind and go faster - the tuning range seems less, more fixed/tighter.

The Gator feels better / playful on my wave/freeride board (Dyno), the NCX on a freerace (Futura).

So your answer could lie in the type of board you use.

I rig both on Blueline rdm 430s. I am 80kg.

I suspect a 7m Gator will get you going before the 7m NCX, but is not as slick once at speed.

construction wise I expect the Gator to last way longer.

i mainly sail in flatwater gusty conditions. I have concluded I prefer using a twin cam on freerace board for that. Out in the ocean, the Gator on freeride. Horses for courses.
