Ricardo Campello's review on a few 2024 wave sails.

Severne S-1
Severne Blade
Duotone SLS hero
Goya Banzai 11 Pro
Simmer Style Black Tip Ltd Team Edition
Gaastra Manic HD
Neilpryde Combat Fuse

Feels genuine.
More informative than the bull**** magazine "test".
This is what the windurf industrie needs.

He gives the Simmer a good wrap. NP being his favourite isn't a massive surprise as he sailed them for about 17 years

More than anything, he highlights sailor weight and who the sail was developed for.
That and the speed of a sail, useful to some people who dont do just DTL sailing.
But how a sail performs doing double forwards or push loop/forwards is of no relevance to the average shorebreak mincer

Certainly very interesting to hear from one of the pro surfers about the different sails, but yes, very far from both my own weight and sailing style...

Regarding the severne test, perhaps he should give the pro-sails a go for a more fair comparison. The pro Blades were originally designed for K?ster, as I have understood it.

Good point and don't think many rental centres stock the Pro sails. I've used them in the past and they feel somewhat lighter and preferred them over the normal version although wouldn't pay the premium. They have symmetric sail battens which I obviously didn't notice in terms of feel. Different story for pro riders.

Also some of the sails are probably not rigged on 100% masts which wouldn't matter for many of us but for Ricardo it would make a big difference. He already mentioned the tuning which also makes a difference so I'm sure he could get much more out of these sails if he'd be sponsored by one of the brands.

Wonder if this is his application to get another NP sponsorship or alternatively Simmer lol.

@ptsf1111:
Quote "They (Pro sails) have symmetric sails battens".

I don't know (because I'm no Pro?)

The most interesting and useful review in windsurfing since a very long time. The rest are made to be read between the lines and to please everyone. Hope this guy makes it to the tour next year. But I doubt it- obviously his honesty is annoying and old school to sponsors in our modern times.
