Hi KJ more or less same issue here, old age;-)
Even bought a secondhand 7.8 Mach 5 to re-calibrate.
Heavy to carry around compared to my OD m2 7.8, especially when wet but a joy once planing, even better stability and the rotation is maybe a little smoother on the Mach.
Wonder why you are going for all the sizes, just the luxurious option or other reasons, shouldn't 8.4 7.2 6.4 do it normally so you stay away from all the what size to rig stress?
Please keep us updated on the bigger sizes, do like MOTO option with only three masts to cover 5,2 to 8,4m2 .
yes a bit of an obsession, no good logic. The 8.4, 7.2, 6.4 would be the best for my board options, however im not quite sure about the 8.4 yet (haven't got it). I like the 6.8 as its the max size sail that fits on the 430 mast and 160 boom and i like this size when i travel up to Fiji (pack a 6.0 gator and 6.8 for one board (which i have up there), then drop to a 5.3 & 4.7 for a smaller FSW board), its the best combo for me up there. I think the 7.8 is going to be the odd one for me. My 7.8M4OD is nice and the 8.6OD is great, but starts to feel big, so i tend to look for excuses not to go out on it. I miss my old 8.1 turbo (its in Fiji) where i could drop to a 7.0 (M, OD, or T). The change in sizing has mucked me up a little bit - i'll have to find out how it goes. The sails are hard to purchase if you don't pre order them. If you want a certain size and you didn't preorder it, you might have to wait another year before you can get it - time is short - particularly after watch the PWA racing in Fuert at the moment, there is no way i could handle that now.
I post once i get the 8.4
