I have the day off tomorrow and I am desperate for a sail. Where will be the best place to go that is flat in an easterly? The wind looks ordinary but but a bob around is better than nothing.

Sellicks could be an option. Flat water, but will be straight offshore

I'm not confident enough for offshore. I don't want to get blown out to sea.

Dont you think it will swing around to the south and be awesome like you told me earlier in the year? Surely it wont be easterly all day down there, and I Know Lee is still learning like me and I wouldn't send him to Sellicks on a easterly

Lee, it's a pity you are always dealt crap conditions on your leave days . Saturday is probably going to be better. Going by the forecast, I would either go to Rankines landing, or Boggy. Leave home 5am, get there 6ish and rig up as quickly as you can for 10-15 knots. It will drop out late morning. When it does, pack up and then enjoy the rest of the day. If you get 2 hours, then that will be a good session.

BTW: I still have you harness lines. I'll give them to Yetti when I see him soon.

I ended up going to Rankines landing and sailed from 1 to 3 pm. The seabreeze graphs show the wind shifted to a SE. The wind built steadily from 13 to 18 knots. It certainly did not feel that powerful to me.

I rigged my 6.0 and it was fine for the whole time. If I was in 18 knots at Seacliff I would be struggling on my 5.2 in 18 knots. So I don't know how accurate the wind speeds are. It's has to be as accurate as the forecast.

Any way I think Rankines landing is a great place for learners. I had one of my best sessions today. It was an absolute blast. I can't wait to go back again.

Thanks for the birthday wishes Shane. It has been a great birthday.

So I don't know how accurate the wind speeds are. It's has to be as accurate as the forecast.

the wind speed shown on the BOB site is usually at least 5 Knots lower than seen on the water.
you need to take that into account when sailing the Goolwa Lake.
still a great place to sail, just need to look at the water rather than the current wind speed shown on the Graph or BOM site.

Enjoy

That Hindmarsh weather station is a bit how's yer father, but there is normally always wind down that way, so can't stuff it up (except for Hayden's "Goolwa bubble" effect in summer)
