Thanks Chinny, a good reminder. When I started Windsurfing, I had a lot of problems with vents taking in water: faulty vent holes, defective screws, and knackered o-rings etc. This is my theory: The primary reason for boards banana splitting themselves is because the owner does the vent screw up once when board is brand new, and never checks vent again. Every few sessions, I coat my o-rings in a bit of silicon grease. No need to replace the o-ring. They seem to last indefinitely when lubed. As long as the vent hole isn't damaged/defective, this guarantees a seal. I figured if lubing seals is best practice/OEM specified for all mechanical technology ever invented by mankind, then why does Windsurfing equipment have to be an exception ? (sorry, just my engineering brain at work here LOL)
