This is in the Windsurfing SA calendar as the Onboard Demo & WSA Beginners and Women's Day at Goolwa, but it looks like the Onboard demo gear wont be available till January.

No need to keep those newbies waiting - we will make it a "Teach a Friend" day. Bring your biggest board, small sail and a friend down to the Aqua cafe launch at Goolwa for some instruction and light wind fun. Great venue for a picnic and some family fun, and the water is back folks.

Beginners who don't have access to a friend with a board, let us know and we will see if we can hook you up with someone.

If the wind is too strong for beginners, we will get some figure 8 racing going or move to the beach depending on conditions - watch this thread for more info as the weather forecast evolves. We will decide if it is a morning or afternoon gathering when we know the weather.

So, do we know if it is morning or afternoon yet? right now, looks kinda dead in the middle of the day but suppose that is better for beginners... Looking forward to trying goolwa!

Russ you keen for an early SUP surf with the fam around 8? Then off to Goolwa around 11?

Might have to pass on the early one as I may need to sleep in after sailing my favourite beach with head hi waves tonight and all Saturday afternoon!!!!!!! - Yeah Right

Yeah, I went down there, left the car, had some lunch and then came back at 1ish and everyone had gone. Still managed to get out there for a little bit though. Got my partner out on her new tyronsea falcon that I repainted for her. She did really well and it is quite a suitable board for a beginner like her.

Once we got all the weed off the fin and out into the channel it was ok but then it all died down around 3 so packed up and went home. Nice to meet some of the guys from windsurfing SA!

Let us know when the next beginners day is. Westlakes or Tiranna way is a good beginner spot but quite gusty through the houses....

Great place for beginners is down Seacliff on a South West Seabreeze, low tide or even down Semephore again on the same conditions.

I started teaching Kurt down Milang and Goolwa but with the crappy river water, weeds, shells and sludge to walk on we quickly moved to only going out in the sea.
Loads better conditions, safe (ie. you can see the bottom) and the a light afternoon seabreeze is alot more predictable.
I wouldn't teach somebody anywhere else.

Sorry to hear the event went pear shape.

I agree with Sheetin. It's just a matter of picking an early time and a low tide, you'll have easy conditions and waist deep water.
