We need all windsurfers to get behind the petition to stop this rediculous decision. www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/General/ISAF-Selects-Kiteboarding-For-Rio-2016/

Flame suit on here ready to be grilled
Maybe if freestyle or waves or slalom were the format people may be a little more supportive - course racing - IMHO as skilled as it is 2 km off a harbour doesn't make for a great spectacle for an Olympic sport maybe its time for a change - its certainly one Olympic event I don't look out for

I know you SA breezers will one this, but kiteboarding course racing is to be included in 2016.

I personally windsurf racing but the masses have spoken.

For mine this is not the spirit of the Olympics. If you want a spectacle then watch the many shows based on extreme sports. The Olympics have always been about beating your peers in a physically and technically challenging sport, which is exactly why windsurfing should be included. There will be very little gained from a visual perspective running kites, they will not be doing jumps and having fun, they will be course racing just like all the other yachting events.

In the 90's, a mate of mine who did Judo complained about Judo becoming an Olympic sport. He was all for it before it's introduction, but after that, the demand for the sport increased, and schools and equipment manufacturers got on the band wagon, hiking up the lineage and equipment fees. With many users on Seabreeze complaining about the cost of equipment, could this happen to Windsurfing ?

I suppose we can only wait and see what happens to Kiting.

Follow this link more closely on the general windsurfing site. There is a lot of good feedback there.
