Kazza, he was a machine, one story worth telling comes to mind when I think of Pete:
About seven years ago Ken and I got hooked on Cloudy Bay, had 6 out of 6 brilliant sessions that year mostly going when the forecast was W or SW, 30-40 knots, 5-9 m swell.
Pete came down with us once on the biggest forecast of the year, we drove down to the far end of the beach, Ken & I headed out of the corner into one & half mast high swell, with it breaking on the bombie in the middle of the bay. Pete followed us, having no idea what he was getting into and absolutely sh.t himself, but he stayed out and gave it a good session, gutzy effort and the most memorable sail we ever got.
You had to love him.
