I'm probably asking a stupid question here but can carbon booms get stuck together with salt crystals when not used over winter like aluminium booms? I've kept mine separated over winter but do I need to?

No! and No! Its the oxidation on the scratched aluminium that causes it to jam after sitting for long periods. Carbon/Epoxy wont do this.
