Pictures. Ot availble atm, but went to hookipia today, and there was a queue to launch!
There where already 30+ sailors out and a fairly small area where you could sail between the tea baggers and the surfers

Even a 10yr old went out.

Righty, i might have been a bit relaxed thanks to JD & Coke when i wrote that.
The beach was hookipa, pavilions.
There where 30+ sailors on the water, there were 4 queued up to go out,
walking back to the car there where anothe 15 in various degrees of rigged.

Wind maybe 20 in the gusts.

Heaps of girls in bikinis, some of them sailing.
No one even knows what a wetsuit is, they think its a thick rashy.
Most blokes wearing boardies

Ohh and green sea turtles everywhere, seriously in the surfers break there where 3 of the buggers.

In a year or 2 I might come back for a month and have a real go and somewhere else.

I sailed Hookipa. We sailed up from somewhere downwind of Hookipa because we felt totally intimidated to sail off the main beach. When I got there did one run straight in to the launching area, got out onto the beach, had a little rest and watched how sailors were getting out the 10 metre little space of launch area and the dumping shore break. I felt so nervous just trying to launch out there not wanting to look like a dickhead if the shore break got me. You had to time it well. Phew all timed well, sailed back out and back home. That was my sail at Hookipa, well at least I've sailed it and launched there. It's a very intimidating feeling just doing a run out there thinking I don't want to get in the way of the pro's (if there were any there that day). Mike, Pete & Dave piked it, they didn't even sail to the beach.
