It's a bit different to that morning on Sept 27 1983 when I, 16 years old, got up to watch what I still think is the greatest moment in Australian sport. But I suppose the whole world is a bit different too.
Glenn Ashby, the wing trimmer on the NZ boat, is a windsurfer, from Bendigo. I windsurfed with him a bit on Lake Eppalock, but at the time he was into racing A Class cats, which he won world titles in. A nice bloke, I hope they do well, and knock the yanks off!

Pretty exciting stuff so far. 4-1 to the kiwi's after a thumping for oracle today. It seems like the crew and control configuration of the kiwi's gives them an edge upwind. Either that or they are simply better at it.

A lot of info included with the broadcast adds to the race. Great class development, hard to believe we watched them at 10 - 12 knots enthralled.

Who would have thought given the Kiwis brilliant start to the regatta. The US taking its race off after so few races to make changes was a big risk if they had gear failure later. They must have known pretty well they were the slower boat and that they had to make changes or else it was all over. Decision paid off well and truly. I wonder if the Kiwis will take their race off if it is light tonight?
Anyone know where a direct telecast is available??

Its amazing stuff, I have been getting up at 6am and watching it live. Certainly gets you pumped when you go sailing. Pete you can live stream it off your computer if you have good internet data. Just go to the Americas cup website and you will find a You Tube link to watch it live. Last and deciding race should be live at 6am EST in the morning. I am not sure Dean Barker would get over this if NZL loose after having it in the bag.
