After being away for most of the year I had my first session in a long time yesterday. It was good, but my God was the water revolting.

I was out at St Kilda and the water there looked like dishwater after a heavy stew clean up.

What are those floaty bits?
How long has it been like that?
And is it okay to go out in?

It didn't seem to bother the others out there that much, but damn I was trying very hard not to fall in yesterday.

It has just arrived in the last week really. I swallowed a mouthful and immediately started planning a sickie for Monday.

I sailed Thurs and Fri there, and only noticed it on Sat - almost rust red particles. Never seen it before. Someone reckoned it was jellyfish spawn. I agree - nasty. The water up there is usually a bit brown, but yesterday was disgusting.

Thank the dredging works at the mouth of the Yarra for your brown soup.

The dredger was back for some maintenance.
