Mathew,

What you meant to say was "If you sail in the City Of Port Phillip (Elwood, St. Kilda, Middle Park etc), you might be interested in this...................

My wife Cologne and I attended the 'My Bay Our Say' meeting last night as I believe the only people representing windsurfing. The meeting was mainly about the foreshore, but we did provide a number of windsurfing items to the discussions and input to their management plan. Some of the input was via a hand held mobile type device. So to increase the windsurfing input I changed the wording and swapped between windsurfing and sailboarding to portray that we had a number of windsurfers at the meeting.

Some of the items we discussed included the long history of windsurfing from StKilda up to Port Melb and our Elwood windsurfing locations. Other items we itemised was grass rigging areas, possible shade and beach showers.

There was no negative statements against windsurfing at all. In fact the opening slide for their Mayor and some others had a windsurfer in the back ground.

No we are not.

Windsurfing was mention as my wife and I was the only rep's there for Windsurfing. If we were not there then windsurfing would not been included and maybe forgotten about again. I tried via the methods that they were using during the night to simulate a larger number of windsurfing rep's. See my earlier post.

The main items discussed was to do with things outside of windsurfing and water usage itself. Things like toilet blocks, trees, pathways, lighting, etc, etc. These were their main focus for forum. I wanted to make sure windsurfing was mentioned. As kite boarding is being more scene and spoken about in this area and not windsurfing.

Next time these sort of open physical forums are on more windsurfing reps should attend, but please note; 99% was to do with items outside of windsurfing and the nights can be very long. We did learn a lot about other areas outside of our own interest and enjoyed helping out.

Please note; Windsurfing is growing more than most would believe. Recent events can help display this, but we need to better market to the public and authority bodies. We need to market in a positive manner. We also need to be positive within our own community and work together to develop our great sport.

Would it be an idea of not just requesting the general windsurfing public to attend, but maybe the whole WV committee and any windsurf clubs that are governed by this council?
