I'd love some locals advice please.
I've been given a ticket of leave for the weekend (??) and I want to try sailing somewhere new. Winds are going to be S/SE 15-20 knots tending Easterly 20-25. Should I head East to Sandy Point/Inverloch way (I've heard it can be great!) Or should I head to Torquay?
Any advice?
Cheers!

The easterly doesn't look that strong or reliable for this weekend

The sandy point forecast actually looks pretty good.
www.bom.gov.au/places/vic/sandy-point/forecast/detailed/

Easterly from 11AM, reaching 20 knots in the afternoon.

That's very much like the forecast we had a couple of weeks after christmas and it blew 25+ all afternoon.

Thanks JonE
Might pack up and head down. If you don't mind answering another question - I've heard you have to walk your gear/park a while away. Is this accurate mate?
Cheers!

Go sandy point with all your gear, walk no, you will first drive on the beach with your 2 wheel drive car park and chat to the people on the beach other sailers. Rig a sail choose a board change your mind rig another then lug your gear all the way to the water 100m and sail all day maybe you will remember to bring lunch and water. You may have to stroll in the shallow water for a little,
now the tide does in and out if its high tide you will not be able to drive on the beach. Go to shop and buy a pie and big m. Eat and return to beach an hour later. Don't drive high tide. And when you park remember the tide is coming in, park up near the sand dune on dry sand you will have a great day

sorry if this is not what you wanted.
