Where is every one windsurfing this weekend?

The weather forecast looks to be a bit light for the weekend. Myself I’m going to try and get a sail at Bonbeach Saturday morning before the Grand Final if the NW wind kicks in as forecast. This weekend is the start of KA Speed Fortnight at Sandy Point and there would a number of windsurfers at Sandy Point.

Refer to the extract from BOM forecast below for Port Philip Bay.
Local Waters Forecast for Port Phillip
Issued at 5:34 am EST on Friday 24 September 2010

Forecast for Saturday
Winds: West to northwesterly 10 to 20 knots tending southwesterly up to 15 knots around midday then becoming light later in the evening. Seas: 0.5 to 1 metre decreasing to below 0.5 metre later in the evening.

Forecast for Sunday
Winds: North to northwesterly 5 to 10 knots increasing to 10 to 15 knots during the evening. Seas: Below 0.5 metres increasing to 0.5 to 1 metre during the evening.

Please note; this is not a WV event and this post is to be used as information only. The intent of this post is for windsurfers to post where they could be going to windsurf this weekend and for other windsurfers to possible come and join them.

Probably just off Mornington. Forecast isn't good enough to risk traveling far. Shame, I don't give a hoot about football.

Monday looks promising though!

nasi,

in that direction your better of with point henry. The hills on the leopold side of lake block anything with north in it. At moment that where we're heading..

Pt Henry was v good!
15-20 knots clean westerly onshore.
on an old slalom board with 6.7 rigged.
wind built to 22+ around 11.30, was powered up to the MAX and absolutely FLYING!!
had a couple of serious catapults when turning downwind, one ended up being flung around the boom on impact landing on back, hooked in head facing board !!
one of the best sessions in ages!!

I think the wind picked up to 30+knots in the arvo as a storm hit Gtown.
It was pretty windy as a plane lost control at Gtown airport and smashed through some power lines. plane looked in pieces. looked pretty bad

edit: both survived, was pilot error.

K-dog and I had a good session out at Elwood saturday morning. It was a great decision to go out that early as the wind died almost completely after 10.

Ozbiker got there around 10am but it was all over by then, unless you had a 8.5 or 9m sail like another guy we met there, a ginger brit called James. I thought that he might have been gingerpom for a moment, but as soon as I mentioned seabreeze he seemed not to know too much about it, besides he was new to the area so that was cleared up. James rocked up on a formula board with a fin like it was off a whale. 8.5m RS:X sail and he just rocketed out and back all morning. I had kit envy something shocking! My 7m was just not enough to consistantly keep me on the plane 100% of the time.

Nearly lost a fin 1km out as I didnt screw it down properly (foolish I know). Managed to get back in before anything serious happened. Straight to RPS doe some replacement screws!

Next purchase, bigger boom 490 carbon mast and a 8+m sail!!!

gutted.
I missed the morning to go pick up my repaired 8.5 ready to use!
(so fully expecting a gale)
and after that wrote it off as not even 8.5 weather.

Next time I'll look at the Elwood Cam

It wasn't crazy windy, but I was planning on my 7, and James was hammering it on his 8.5.

Definitely better than housework!!!
