I've sailed there several times. Rented a house which was 50 m from the water, so I just left everything rigged in the garage. Awesome.
Anyway, it was mainly flat water blasting, with short rolling chop over 20kts, so I'd recommend the slalom kit. Anything from the SW was good- fairly clean. Northerly and the wind was very holey, coming off the land. I probably wouldn't bother with the wave kit. Pretty hard to get to the Ninety Mile Beach from Metung, and although I've looked at several spots accessible from the lakes by boat, I've never seen anything that's made me think it would be worth the effort.

I am from WA and will be sailing Skiffs next summer in Metung. Is there any good windsurfing in this area? Wave or Slalom. I am thinking of throwing some kit in.

yes it's great sailboarding area, I came to live on the Gippsland Lakes for the sailing/boarding in the late 80's after living in Perth in the early to mid 80's, it's one of the windiest places in Southern Mainland Australia . Great for slalom, chop jumping, Metung itself is a bit limited in some wind directions but within a few k's your options improve at places like Tambo Bay etc. Not many sailboarders these days (few kites) , I am just getting back into sailboarding a bit (after mainly sailing for last 20 years) but am at Paynesville about 45 min by road away, quicker by board if the wind is right.

What sort of skiff will you be sailing at Metung? Not much of a OTB scene there , most OTB on the lakes is at Paynesville .
