I was on me way to inverloch on the weekend and decided to stop by and have alook at this bay alot of windsurfers have told me about. They say that on its day can be as good as sandy point. When i first got there i checked out corinella first wich is next to the bay it looked like a awseome place to sail. Then i went on to coronet bay and what did a find a windsurfer out in the middle of no where sailing the place. It looked like a dream to sail. Flat water and super windy with a reef that swings out in the bay, exsposed to a mini rock island called reef island. And right along the reef it had water as flat as sandy point with wind blowing onto the reef. It looked like you could easy break your speed record right there and then. What i cant work out is why more windsurfers dont sail there and kiters well dont tell em but i think it would be a kite paradise to them. i think i will sail there next and post you some pics my friends.

if ya want to sail there it looks like it will work on most wind directions as the land is real flat around the area.

so clean wind, miles of flat water in a huge bay all to your self. does not get much better than that folks

Sailed this spot a few times,

It will only work in a strong N/W for the speed strip or w for a B/J
Its on port tack so the Assy fins for the Pit won,t work there
You will have to sail out into the middle of the bay to get a run into Reaf island and sailing small speed boards in a 4-5 ft swell can be a little tricky
There,s a big wind shadow just at the start of the run but the rest is pretty good
There are TWO SMALL ROCK OUTCROPS under the water in the last third of the run
which are very hard to see. And they will hurt when you hit them.
Its a very long swim if the wind drops out.

Other than all that its a great place to sail, but its NOT the Pit

Thats Bull**** i live there it works in a s or sw and yes with the right tide its as good as sandy point just not as long but its a hell of alot closer to melbourne. usually its just me and another local guy that sail there. you can sail coronet bay and reef island on any wind except for anything with east in it. the speed strip only works in a s or sw. i also sail all the unsailed wave spots around the phillip island.

I agree with BURTWIND i was there satday it was blowing SW 25-30 knots and looked flat on the speed strip at reef island and the bay looked flater than port port phillip with half m chop in it.

But i think ya right about the rocks KATO i think i will sail at half throttal around the place till i know the area better.

cant wait for the next gale force sw cold front cause i know a place that is flat as a lake for now on . corro bay

Not sure how you sail this on anything but a N/W as the other sides shore line is all over the place. Maybe I won,t be the only one out there when its good.

Yes its great bump and jump in a nw. for the speed run you sail the other side in a sw there is only one rocky reef that you have to watch out for but you can sail within a metre of it because it drops off realy deep
