Dates: February 19th - 26th, 2011. Note that competitors in the Pro division will not have official competition until the 20th. Other divisions may compete Saturday depending on the conditions. Saturday night will be opening night BBQ.

Location: Gerroa, Shoalhaven Heads and/or Windang. A competitors' house is being organised for those travelling interstate and require accommodation - more details to follow.

Entry fee: Adults (male) $100. Ladies, Juniors and Groms are $60. This is the early bird registration fee available up until the 5th of February. Please make a direct debit into the following account.

Divisions: age as at 18th of February
1. Open Pro
2. Ladies
3. Amateurs - there will be a specific criteria to compete in this division however, the emphasis is on amateur level sailors and those new to wavesailing
4. Masters > 35 yrs
5. Grand Masters > 45 yrs
6. Legends > 55 yrs
7. Youth under 21 yrs
8. Juniors under 17 yrs
9. Groms under 15 yrs

Prizes:
Winner of Open Pro will receive $1000.

I too was under the asumption the 26th was the last day and took leave only till then. If i'm in the ams will i need to get monday 28th off also?

As for Accommodation side of things we have booked a house for the week which has a couple of bedrooms and floorspace. We may book another house if there is the demand.

What is available is;
1 X Master bedroom with private bathroom/shower $325 for the week starting 19/2/11 and vacating on the 27/02/11
2 X bedrooms with 2 beds in each $30 per bed, per night.
Floor space at $20 per night but BYO mattress - there is space for about 8 people (4 upstairs and there is a downstairs room as well)

This house is where we will probably hold the opening night BBQ.
Workout what you want and email me direct using my address in a previous post. First come, first serve. Payments to the NSW Wavesailing club once I confirm back directly with you.

Wow, if you call a mast high wave, 6' I am must be about 3 feet tall. At that's what the size was between 4 and 6pm. Probably as good as Gerroa gets in a Nor'Easter.

If you do not already have a sail number how do you go about getting one, is there a register of numbers already in use? is No.1 taken?

Also what is the criteria for amateur, no sponsors?

Simple rule. If your telling someone who wasn't there double it. If your telling someone that was half it.

We are thinking of booking another house for accommodation - can you give us an idea if you are interested

For your information, your sail number is AUS-139 and will continue to be so if you are a member of the NSWWA - one of the many perks and why everybody in NSW should join (blatant plug for the 2011-12 season).

No sail numbers required!

We will use coloured rash vests to identify you. You can always display your numbers if you go to the www.windsurfing.org and checking the AWA members list. This is the list of all sailors currently insured as well.

Im not a Gerroa local but it seems like the season is getting better on the eastcoast at the moment so do it.

February and March are better for waves and the seabreeze is still good owing to local effects. Had a top day 10 days ago with headhigh sets. The cross off wind means the wave face stays smooth and really rippable. The seabreezes also produce good jumping waves (cross-on) further down the beach where it bends around.

Hope you guys make it - a long event window and the possibility of moving the comp up and down the coast will maximise the chance of contestable conditions.

I recall that was given the thumbs down after last time. Can't recall exactly why though.

I don't really have an opinion on it, as I don't qualify for the Juniors, Groms, Youth, Masters, Legends or Ladies.

But you'd have to offer that option up to the opens though, to enter both Pro's and Am's.

Why isn't it just one opens division for fck sake.

I've always looked at it as sponsored/ not sponsored or serious/ social. I think the idea was to keep more people enjoying the competition. The idea was stolen from WA anyway so blame them it has worked well in the nswwa. Makes it more enjoyable for more people.
