June 27, 2009 - 10:06AM
A man has been bitten by a shark on the NSW south coast.
NSW Ambulance received reports a male surfer was bitten by a shark at Seven Mile Beach at Gerroa, south of Kiama, about 8.45am (AEST) this morning.
Early reports indicate he sustained a small laceration to the lower leg.
He has been taken to Shoalhaven Hospital for treatment.

Has anybody heard anything else about this story?

Yea heard about it this morning on the water. Saw a pic of the guy this morning. He was on crutches with a small bandage on his ankle. Didn't look too bad.

I talked to my mate today who happend to be about 2 metres away when it happend, and saw the shark (Bronzy most likely) which was round 5-6 ft and bolted in the oppostite direction as soon as it had touched him. he said, i have just been hit and asked him if he could have a look to see if its serious enough for him to go in? It is really hectic, but it has been hyped up by the media sooo much. Very Unlucky in my eyes *It was on the first track right where every one windsurfs and must have been relitivaly shallow water as it was only about 1-2 ft waves MAX
Hope the guy gets better soon

1-2ft sounds about right for gerroa. Make sure you tell waz it was 3/4 mast at Wanda. Good to hear the guys ok though. I would have thought the media had done there dash with shark attack stories over summer. Maybe we could beat it up ourselves and thin the crowds out abit. Personally I heard it was a 42ft great white that always frequent the beach every summer looking for surf schools.
