I tested a load of 2008 waveboards on a holiday last year and the 08 Kombat 87 was my least favourite of all those in the freestyle-wave category and by a fair margin. Most of my sailing companions thought the same.

We were testing against several of the other large manufacturers offerings which we "aquired " for the day for testing purposes. Many just did not turn - and some (inclusding the markets best seller by sales volume) flat out could not be bottom turned - while the kombat was indistinguishable from a dedicated waveboard.
Funny - we thought exactly the opposite. OK we didn't sail it in proper waves but the Kombat 87 was the worst gyber by a country mile because it was so reluctant to turn (by that I mean properly engage the rail and grip into the gybe...you had to be really agressive, sheet in loads and use a lot of back foot to make it turn...trying to gybe off the front foot just didn't work for me). It then lost speed easily through the gybe and I found it the least likely board to plane out. (This is in powered up 5.8 weather)
That could "maybe" be forgiven to a certain extent if it was a fast early planing speed machine. But no way was it that either.
