Hi there,

I'm going close to Forster for Easter (Boomerang Beach). Is it worth bringing my wavesailing gear?? (current forecast is Southerly winds with easterly swell..!) Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Francois

Hallidays Point. Next point north of Forster at the end of that really long beach (9 mile? 7 mile?)
Pretty good spot. Both tacks covered.
Sail the south side of Black Head.

Thanks for your answers; Hallidays Point looks good: had a look on googlemap and it seems there's a small reef, so i may find a proper wave there. thks

Hi Francois
qwerty is on the money (hows it going Carl?) - south side of Hallidays is side shore in NEaster (not sure how great in a sth wind).

If that doesn't work out you can also look at Wallabi Pt in a Nor Easter. Its just south of Old Bar (turn right off highway just before Taree)

Not much in that region for southerly forecast thats really sideshore. Maybe Tuncurry on the north side of the wall??

Thanks a lot Rob. Sadly the WE away has been cancelled.. (my non-windsurfing friends don't want to drive 400kms if it's rainy and windy.. not sure why).
So it'll be Windang!! (never had a chance to sail Windang in a southerly..but i've heard about so many 'epic days' down there).
Is Windang still ok if the wind direction is slightly westerly??

yep.
not sure what the swell is doing, but Whyner might chime in with an update.

Otherwise, there are several other spots to sail anyway which are pretty good in S or SW.

Waves are smaller than expected. Wind is calm right now (not a good sign).

Yep. Straight off the beach you'll come to as soon as you drive over the headland. There's a carpark right there.
Tack up to the point which is only a few hundred metres south.

You can drive further along the dirt road and park there. It's closer to the point but no grass to rig on (last time I saw it).
Easier to go from the first carpark.

Windang was shoulder high and 20 knots later this arvo. The wind didn't come through until 3, weird. Was pretty good though.

I smacked this wave so hard yesterday I pushed my feet through the board and got cuts all up my shins.

Bonjour Edd,

Haven't been. Just stayed in Sydney. Sailed Windang in a Southerly for the first time on Friday and i was impressed by the quality of the spot - the bank close to the canal began 150m from the shore. Even though the waves weren't that big, you could do up to 10 turns in the good sets ( a bit more for Whyner and Wazza..). Looking fwd to winter woutherlies .
