I've been going camping at Albany at Easter for 20 odd years and I don't bother taking my gear anymore. Although I notice there is a bit of wind forecast for sunday it is notoriously fickle. I've only managed one decent sail in those years that I have taken my gear -- wave gear on flat water at Oyster Harbour ( can be very shallow ).

For flat water sailing you probably can't beat Middleton Beach or Oyster Harbour.

If you're confident and want to try some waves ( might be some swell this weekend ) try Nanarup Beach 20 k's east of town. The wind direction is about right but as I said it can be fickle.

The west side of the Princess Royal Harbour??? may well be a good spot as well but I have never tried it and I can't say I've ever seen anyone out there.

If I had the room in the car I would possibly take my gear this year on the forecast -- I guess I could leave the kids home....

Hey Guys, I am down in Albany now, actually living here now...

I went for a sail on Sunday on the harbour and got going alright.
was on an 83L Mistral with a 6.9m Expression. Had to leave early though, the grumpy yacht club ppl told me off for using their grass and water...
Quite rude about it aswell :(I hear Nanarup is good and also Mutton Bird Island... need a bit more wind down here though.

Anyone coming down who wants a windsurfing companion, just give me a yell :)
My dad is also down here, but he is jus tlearning, sails on the harbour.

Well that's one way of attracting new members to their club (not) When I last checked, most dont pay council fees like the rest of society, so blasting a windsurfer in such a manner is just plan bad manners, and when did they own rights re the water.

Any place you can crank some speed stuff out down there?

I go down to coalmine beach which is in walpoe and get some good sessions in sailing around nornalup inlet , very simular to melville water.

Went for a blast today. From the sailing club again, but with my father this time (he's a memeber)
Went from the club to the town Jetty and back, was a decent sail. needed a 6.9 to really go though :S
NEED MORE WIND :'(

Good for Dad though, he's just learning still.
Maybe I should have invested in a board over 83L before I left Perth hehehe.
