I seem to remember there was a thread about sailing Alkimos a while back, but couldn't find it. Anyway was thinking of giving it a try now that the beach is easily accessible. Has anyone sailed this spot? If so pros & cons?

How accessible is it now? Is there a road that goes to the beach now? Google maps is usually quite a few months old.

Yeah. There's a carpark there now, you can just park up and walk to the beach.

I sailed there when I first came to Perth 20+ years ago in a NW storm. You had to drive along the beach then. The reef was very shallow, even dry at times, and very sharp. The wave was quite nice, but I was just too wary of the reef to enjoy it. It was one of my first ocean sails with 3-4m sets coming through it was a tad intimidating. I did like that fact we were sailing all alone next to a rusty wreck.

Be careful around the wreck, - lots of bad ju-ju / evil spirits around there. Everyone that comes in contact with it has something bad happen. Look it up on Wiki
